Current Position: Nikolay T. Tzvetkov, Dr. rer. nat., is Professor in Bioorganic Chemistry and Chemistry of Natural and Bioactive Compounds, MSc in Chemical Engineering, Head of Biochemical Pharmacology and Drug Design Department, Institute of Molecular Biology “Roumen Tsanev”, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Research activity and interest: Dr. Tzvetkov’s research group (BioPharmDrugDesignLab) focuses its current activity on developing of novel bioactive small molecules, peptidemimetics, and their conjugates, including natural and synthetic compounds as novel lead structures for therapeutic and/or diagnostic applications. Before he started the academic carrier, Dr. Tzvetkov has worked as postdoc and project leader at Schwarz Pharma AG, Germany and UCB SA, Belgium. He is also inventor and co-inventor of several granted patents in the field of therapeutic applications against neurodegenerative diseases. In the past few years, in his research group have been developed Artificial Intelligence-based protocols for design of natural and synthetic compounds. Nikolay Tzvetkov is a Visiting Professor at the University of Basilicata, Potenza, Italy. He is Scientific Bord Member of many international research institutions and organizations.
