Current Position: Adele Cutignano, PhD, is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry (ICB) of the National Research Council (CNR) in Pozzuoli (NA), Italy.

Research activity and interest: Dr. Cutignano’s research activity is mainly focused on bioactive natural products. The exploration of the chemical diversity in marine invertebrates, microalgae and plants aims to discover novel secondary metabolites, understand their ecological role and highlight their potential as pharmaceuticals, cosmeceuticals and nutraceuticals; the stereo-structural elucidation of natural compounds is carried out by application of complementary NMR and HRMS/MS methodologies. More recently, the interest towards MS-based lipidomics approaches converged into several interdisciplinary studies, from marine chemo-ecology to biological systems. Partner of the Biotech Company BioSearch dedicated to research on pharmaceuticals and innovative products from marine microalgae. Specialty Chief Editor of Frontiers in Marine Science/Marine Biotechnology and Bioproducts; Editorial Board Member and Guest Editor of Marine Drugs; Editorial Board Member and Guest Editor of Phycology; Editorial Board member of Frontiers in Ecology and Evolution.

Author of 95 peer-reviewed original papers/reviews/book chapters and 1 International Patent.
